Summer is a busy time for all of us. Please take the time to read this newsletter and note the important information provided.

NEWS

The following motion was approved by the membership during the June 5, 2008
membership meeting. The members of Local 29 shall approve an expenditure up to $200,000 from the general fund for the purpose of compensating members carrying out picket line duties. Members shall be placed on a picket line duty list and rotated to provide each member an opportunity to be paid.
One delegate to the Oregon State Building Trades convention shall be elected during the August 7, 2008 membership meeting. The membership meeting scheduled for July 3 ,2008 has been cancelled.

 

WORK

The work picture is slow for both, reinforcing and structural. There is a lot of work scheduled this summer. Unfortunately, a majority of the projects have been delayed for one reason or another. Work on the windmills should be strong this summer, with two projects scheduled to begin in Arlington, Oregon.

PHONE BANK

Retiree, Ernie Soto, has volunteered to help create a system to notifl members of injuries and deaths within our membership. Those members interested in helping with the phone bank or being placed on the notification list please contact Jim Pauley at the hall.


 

ELECTION 2008

All members not registered to vote are encouraged to do so. The upcoming election in November will be important to our future success as Ironworkers.

PICNIC

The Ironworkers Annual Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Oaks Park in Portland, Oregon. The picnic will begin at 11 :00a.m. Ride bracelets will be provided for children. Ribs and brisket will be served. Please bring any side dishes
or desserts, which you wish to share. Come and enjoy a good time and visit with Brother and Sister Ironworkers.


GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Annual Ironworkers Golf Tournament will be held on July 26th, 2008, at the Gresham Golf Course. Cost is $50 for green fees, which include a cart and dinner. Contact Jim Pauley to reserve a tee time.
